Generating Ideas (P1,M1 U21)
Learning Outcome 1(U21): Be able to generate ideas for an original media product based on a client brief.
Explicit:
Has to be original content.
Has to be a front page and a double page spread.
Implicit:
Promote a developing local vibrant music scene.
Has to be based online and print based in north London.
Open to interpretation:
I can do which ever artist or band that i want to.
I can base it on whatever genre i want to.
My first thoughts:
My first initial thoughts was to base it rock bands as they are a well known, however i decided to go for a grime genre as it is more well known, recognisable and are what the youth in North London is listening to so it will make the magazine as popular as possible by targeting a mass market instead of a niche market.
Another initial thought was to pick ally pally as a venue because it is very well known, recognisable and famous for hosting many different events and artists their such as the darts championship and AJ Tracey performing their .
My last initial idea was to have grime artists such as M Huncho and Headie One to feature inside of the magazine as they are very popular artists with some very successful songs that have blown up as having a segment in the magazine about them with them describing some of the lyrics of a song of theirs will give the magazine a USP as the magazine will be one of the only ones with two of the most famous grime artists at the moment so it will be more likely to sell.
Idea 1:
My first idea was to do rap as it is a very well known and lots of people listen to the genre of music because it is produced and listened to by list of different audiences so the target audience is mainly teenagers from the ages of 15 to 19 and people in their 20's as they are the biggest majority that passionately listens to grime.
Idea 2:
My second idea was to exclusives with rap artist such as M Huncho, headie one and dave to do exclusives inside of the magazine as a USP because no other magazines have interviews and rappers explaining why they used them lyrics.

Idea 3: For my third idea I was going going to pick Ally Pally or the O2 Brixton arena for my venues as they are very well known and aren't that expensive for customers to buy tickets for as the customers won't be very old as they will be teenagers and may not have an income.
Conclusion
I have decided to go with having artists to feature in my magazine as they are better well known as they have a big impact on North London as it is a vibrant music scene with a lot of exposure to mainstream media. I did not go for the idea of picking rap as a genre for the magazine as it is a very broad topic and most consumers may not want to know everything about rap and artists they don't like so picking rappers that the customers and potential consumers will like so they will be more inclined to buy the magazine. I didn't pick the idea of using a venue in my magazine because customers won't want the main bulk of the magazine to be about venues so information about the O2 and Ally Pally as a small segment inside of the magazine so customers still get some knowledge about the best venues in North London.
